The Year Ain't So New Anymore

2024 is almost gone forever

The completion point of days,

weeks,

months,

and years serve as traffic lights for us to slow down,

stop,

and reflect before we continue driving down the streets of destiny.

You made some new promises to yourself at the start of this year.

Have you kept those promises?

Are you still as focused as you were in January?

To be honest,

I used to despise New Years resolutions.

They felt very ritualistic,

yet most of the time they hold little weight.

Most people do all the work,

all the vision boards,

and all the goal setting,

but come March, they have slipped back into the habits that they promised they'd step away from.

It all felt incredibly cringe to me.

However,

My new perspective is that having a New-year's resolution isn't such a bad thing,

you just need to apply 3 mental tactics to make them work effectively.

1. Humble Your Motivation

Most of us get that big burst of energy at the start of a new year.

You get that insane rush of motivation and inspiration.

"THIS IS GONNA BE MY YEAR!"

In these moments,

and honestly in all moments,

we need to remember a key phrase:

"This too shall pass."

This infamous quote is often used to cope with unideal life circumstances,

but it doesn't just apply to the bad moments,

it applies to every moment.

And it definitely applies to the rush of motivation and inspiration that you are gifted at the start of the New Year.

Understand that all that hope, motivation, and inspiration will leave you at some point,

and if you really want the things you say you do,

you will need to get the work done regardless.

2. Every Moment is a New Year

Yes,

Every moment is a New Year.

You can have an idea at any moment in time,

and the worst thing you can do to that idea is wait for the perfect moment to execute on it.

Ideas must be acted on immediately,

or you risk experiencing some heavy regret in the future.

Waiting for the new year to execute on any change you want to make in your life is sabotaging yourself before you even begin.

Ideas are fleeting,

and there is no such thing as perfect execution.

Immediate action is the way.

Yes sometimes you need some time to get your idea off the ground,

but if that time isn't being used to actively bring that idea to the physical world,

you're wasting time.

3. Reframe What the New Year is to You

The New Year isn't a fresh start,

every moment is a fresh start.

Once you truly internalize that statement,

you will no longer be limited by the motivation you get at the beginning of the year,

you'll be able to channel inspiration and motivation at any moment.

Again,

it is beneficial to see the New Year in the same light as you see the end of a day,

week,

and month.

These are the moments in which you check in,

you make sure you are as aligned as possible with everything you want to be and achieve.

In fact,

I created a Dream Alignment System for myself that does exactly this.

Step 1:

Write down your 1, 5, and 10 year goals/dream life (with hella details)

Step 2:

With those goals written you might be a bit overwhelmed if you're ambitious. That's okay, you're supposed to be.

That's why we're mainly going to focus on your 1 year goals.

Step 3:

Analyze your 1 year goals,

and write out every single task you need to get done this month in order to move closer to that goal.

Step 4:

Include as many of those tasks in your daily to-do lists

Step 5:

Every Saturday night,

and every last day of the month,

give yourself an honest evaluation of how you performed that week/month.

Then,

at the end of the year read all your evaluations to see how much progress you made that year.

2024 is almost gone forever,

it's not coming back.

Are you using your time to create the life you want,

or are you just letting time pass?

This is not meant to make you anxious about time,

as I believe in living a quality life in all areas.

It is important to have amazing experiences,

relationships,

and rest.

In addition to that though,

the process of bringing your dreams into your physical world requires your time,

will you use it wisely?

Close your eyes Take a ride Take a breath Let the wind be your guide You can glide through the turquoise skies And when the brain wanders, remind the mind That missteps are apart of the process No need to get upset Just reset And keep the motion cause is harder for depression to hit a moving target So close your eyes Take a ride Take a breath Let the wind be your guide You can glide through the turquoise skies And when the brain wanders, remind the mind That there are infinite questions No...
